Think you know all the hidden garden gems in Morris County? Take a trip to the Long Hill Township Library this Wednesday, June 29th at 2:00 pm and find out!

Master Gardener Bill Moran is presenting an armchair tour of must-see Public Gardens and Great Estates in Morris County.

What may be a surprise to many area residents is that within a short driving distance there are hundreds of public gardens. Most of them are free and offer an incredible variety of plants and designs. In some instances these gardens were once part of a private estate and the original mansion may be open for viewing. This presentation with pictures covers a range of gardens from pocket size to multi-acre arboretums.

Novel Destinations is the theme for adults at the Long Hill Township Library this summer.

Watch a movie (Wednesdays @ 2:00), read an international mystery, borrow a travel guide, plan your vacation or stay-cation, and more. Your library has what you need and we’re here to help!

With our “Where 2 Wednesday” movie series we’ll be traveling to England, Italy, Ireland, India, Bali, Greece and Europe. We’d love you to travel with us. Here’s the itinerary:

Get Ready for our Summer Reading Kickoff Extravaganza!

One World, Many Stories!

On Saturday, June 25th, from 11 am to 1 pm, please stop by the Long Hill Township Library for our Summer Reading Kickoff party! Join us for crafts, face-painting, games, food, and strolling juggler Jen Slaw! The kickoff party will be held between 11 and 1, but you can stop by any time to sign up. Can't make it to the library on June 25th? Not to worry. Your child can sign up for our Summer Reading Program anytime through August 13th (the last day of the program).

Studies have shown that children who read (or are read to) during the summer months perform better when school resumes in the fall. Help your children sustain their reading skills and reinforce the benefits of reading for enjoyment and pleasure!

In addition to our Summer Reading Programs for younger kids, the library also sponsors summer reading raffles for teens (grade 6 through age 18) and adults (age 18 and up). Stop by the library, check out our website or visit us on Facebook for more details!

Worldwide Knit in Public Day at Long Hill Township Library

Saturday, June 11th, marked the third annual celebration of Worldwide Knit in Public day at Long Hill Township Library, and 22 knitters came to the library to knit in public and enjoy each other's company. Worldwide Knit in Public Day was begun in 2005 as a way to encourage knitters to celebrate and share their enjoyment of needlecraft. Long Hill Township is fortunate to have a very active knitter's group, the Gates Avenue Knitters, who meet at the library on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month (at 7 pm). People of all ages and skill levels are welcome to join the Gates Avenue Knitters for knitting, purling and great conversation! STAFF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

The Long Hill Township Public Library will close at 5:00 pm on Thursday, June 23rd for Staff Training and Development. We will reopen at 10:00 am on Friday, June 24th.

LEARNING EXPRESS COMES TO LONG HILL LIBRARY!

This innovative platform includes self-paced study, instant scoring, and diagnostic feedback and can be accessed from any computer that has an Internet connection.

LONG HILL LIBRARY ADULT SUMMER READING CLUB

The Long Hill Library Summer Reading Club for adults age 18 and up begins on Saturday June 25th, and runs through Saturday, September 3rd. For each book you read (or listen to), fill out a raffle ticket and bring it to the Library. Blank raffle tickets are available at the Library or can be downloaded from our web site: www.longhilllibrary.org
Optional: post your review of the book on the Long Hill Township Library Facebook page.

Every week a winner will be chosen from that week's entries. The winner receives a free book! (Readers can only win the weekly raffle once.) Everyone who reads at least one book will have a chance to win the Grand Prize, a $25 gift card.
